37 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi friends! There are 37 weeks remaining until Christmas and I think I just heard about something I wasn’t supposed to hear about.

I went to lunch with a friend of mine over in the Sleigh Department. As we sat in the cafeteria at North Pole Flight Command we heard this elf at another table say that Santa was really making waves with this idea he has for his new sleigh this year.

My friend, who is fabricator – which means he makes special stuff for the sleigh – confirmed that Santa has indeed been spending a lot of time over there working with designers in recent weeks.

They are working on a radical new design of Santa’s sleigh that people are calling “really cool”. The sleigh is a very low profile, sleek design that would require Santa to nearly recline as he’s flying the sleigh. The point of the design is to make it go faster at top speeds – like a “wedge in the sky”.

I’m told that Santa has been studying the “flying wing” aircraft that some militaries use. A military might use such a design to evade detection. But Santa’s purpose is to go faster while being less of a drag on the reindeer – meaning it wouldn’t take as much reindeer power to push him.

Santa is very anxious to test such a design.

If this is true, it would represent a departure from what we were told was the plan for Santa’s sleigh this year. We were told that Santa’s new sleigh would be based on last year’s record setting sleigh. Could Santa have a different plan for this Christmas?

And if there is a different plan for this Christmas – why? I have so many questions now!

My friend – who I don’t think I should identify at this time – says that while Santa’s ideas are really exciting it would require re-thinking a lot of different things including how Santa would get in and out of the sleigh, how the sleigh would be loaded and just how many reindeer would be needed to fly it.

So it is no wonder this is getting talked about by so many.

Well, now. This is all breaking news and I’m afraid I’ve likely stolen some thunder from Elf Meg over at Flight Command by talking about all this.

In fact, I’ve got a call in to Elf Meg to see if we can discuss this.

So, for right now, take all this as mere rumor and speculation.

Hopefully soon we will learn if this is as big a news story as I think it is.
