Rudolph and Donner Do Battle

The Annual Reindeer Games took a personal, family turn today as Rudolph and his father, Donner, took each other on in a pulling event.

Reindeer Games

Donner, a frequent champion of the games who is heavily favored against this year, was expected to do well in this ground event. In this race the reindeer are hitched to a weighted sleigh and made to run an obstacle course. They must run the course without hitting any obstacles or upsetting the sleigh. Donner owns the course record.

The weather at the North Pole was a factor in the event. Several of the two year old class, including Incredible Hercules and Titus, performed well in the event. But Donner once again dominated and was expected to win.

The Rudolph took to the course.

Rudolph, with his nose blaring, completed the course in record time to the cheers of the local North Pole crowd. His win stunned experts. Rudolph, who build favors his mother more than his father, was never expected to compete this well in the race.

The win puts Rudolph at the top of the leaderboard heading in to day #3 of the competition.

Whatever happened to the Mighty Mick who won last year? I don’t remember hearing what his special assignment ended up being last year as the prize for winning?
