Santa Tricks Everyone at North Pole Halloween Party
Posted by Elf Ernest on Sunday, 2nd November 2008 at 7:36PM

We kind of knew something was up,. After all, Santa has never told us to come to the Halloween party armed with squirt guns and water balloons.

But we were totally surprised anyway when Santa gave everyone at the North Pole party a good scare.

Just after everyone had arrived and we were gathered in the big hall taking pictures of each other in costume the lights suddenly went out and an ear piercing scream was heard.

Everyone got very quiet very quickly. Then, bright lights flashed and up on the stage Santa came out dressed as, well, himself. "Ho, ho, ho!" he laughed. "Scared ya, didn't I? Now, you all behave tonight or Mrs. Claus and I will have to really trick you."

And with that the party was off to a good start. We bobbed for apples, we played limbo, we danced like monsters and we ate all kinds of goodies.

Then Mrs. Claus brought out the pies -- with big smiles all over her face.

In years past, Mrs. Claus would get just a tiny bit upset with us as some times the pies got used in a food fight. Someone would start an argument. Then someone would smash a cupcake into someone's nose. And the next thing you know food would be flying every where, including Mrs. Claus' pies.

Mrs. Claus spends a lot of time on her pies. For Halloween she makes pumpkin, apple and cheery pies -- all very messy when they are thrown and all very popular in a food fight.

We had been lectured by Elf Gloria not to do anything with Mrs. Claus' pies this year. She is a good friend to Mrs. Claus and we promised her we would behave.

So, as we all sat down at the long table some of us were sitting on our hands to keep from starting a food fight.

But when Elf Billy cut into the first pie we could not have been more surprised to see spiders come jumping out of the pie and running all over the table.

In an instant chaos broke out. Elves everywhere jumped from their seats and pulled out their squirt guns. (Elves REALLY don't like spiders). Water was flying everywhere as the spiders just kept coming up out of the pie. They crawled in that creepy way of theirs from the table to the floor, causing the elves to jump up on their chairs. Elves were screaming, trying to get away from the spiders.

As the spiders ran out of the room we saw Mrs. Claus over by a table full of beautiful pies -- smiling. "Anyone want more pie?" Mrs. Claus asked. She was dressed as a scuba diver, complete with a face mask and flipper. Everyone thought it was a very clever costume when they were taking pictures. But now they understood that Mrs. Claus was tricking them much as Santa had earlier with the lights.

Without hesitating, the elves started shooting squirt guns at the table of pies, thinking more spiders were going to come out. Mrs. Claus adjusted the mask over her eyes and pulled out two large water guns. They were filled with sticky apple juice. And she started firing at the elves standing on their chairs. We were all sitting ducks.

Then Santa popped out from underneath that table and started throwing the pies. They were real pies!

Soon the room was filled with flying food as the elves tried to fight off the pie flinging Santa and Mrs. Claus. Everyone was laughing.

Suddenly the lights went out again. But the food kept flying. Then, without warning, it started raining -- inside. Santa had turned the sprinklers on us. Then water balloons started falling from the ceiling. And as the lights came back on we saw Mrs. Claus in the corner holding a large hose and she was smiling. "Everyone helps to clean up!" she shouted.

It was the best Halloween Party ever. It will forever be remembered as the Halloween when Santa and Mrs. Claus tricked us. We went home happy, full of goodies and ready to celebrate more in the weeks and months ahead.

All eyes turn to Christmas this week. And we will have lots more news from the North Pole to report soon.
